In a Korean spa tycoon game, where you place things decides your income more than what you buy

In Korean Spa Tycoon, when two fixtures sit within 2 tiles of each other, an income multiplier applies. Sikhye and the snack kiosk get 1.2x next to a kiln sauna, and so does the sleep room. On the other hand, a sleep room within one tile of an arcade or a kids zone is cut to 0.8x. The air conditioner starts at a radius of 3 tiles and covers 5 once upgraded, and the door has to sit on the lobby side of the front face so guests do not drop off when you widen the building.

The placement bonus is measured within 2 tiles

In Korean Spa Tycoon, the spot you place a fixture swings your income more than the order you buy them in. The rule is simple. If a matching fixture is within 2 tiles of it, an income multiplier applies to that fixture. With no partner nearby it stays at 1x.

The multipliers follow the route guests actually walk. Someone who just sweated goes looking for sikhye, and someone who just got scrubbed heads to the barbershop. The table below is the values in the game data, exactly as they are.

Lay down the kiln sauna first and fill in around it

The partner that shows up most in the table is the kiln sauna. Sikhye, snacks, the sleep room and the diner all get a multiplier next to it. So the winning move is to lock in the kiln sauna spot first and attach the eat-and-rest fixtures around it.

The unlock order fits this flow. The kiln sauna opens at stage 2, and the sleep room opens once you own 1 kiln sauna. Sikhye needs 2 snack kiosks, the salt room needs 2 kiln saunas, and the ice room needs 2 salt rooms. So put a snack kiosk next to the kiln sauna first, and when sikhye unlocks, attach it in the same spot.

Keep the quiet room away from the noisy neighbors

Placement is not only bonuses. If an arcade or a kids zone is within one tile of the sleep room, its income drops to 0.8x. One tile means a single wall between them, so the game sounds and the kids' noise come straight through.

The massage room is also cut to 0.85x within one tile of a kids zone. Gather the noisy fixtures in one corner and send the sleep room and massage room to the other side, next to the kiln sauna and the diner. Next to an arcade you can attach a kids zone (1.2x) and a PC room (1.15x), so grouping the noisy ones together pays off.

Air conditioners cut breakdowns for fixtures in range

The air conditioner (35,000 won) does not add an income multiplier. It reduces breakdowns and dirt. The radius is 3 tiles by default and widens to 4 and then 5 with upgrades. The sleep room, massage chair, comic room, kids zone, arcade, PC room and diner inside the radius break down less.

One unit covers a wide area, so the best spot is one that catches the sleep room, massage chair and comic room row in one go. There is a cap on how many you can place: 1 unit at stages 1 to 3, 2 at stages 4 to 5, and up to 3 from stage 6. Each next unit costs 1.5x more.

Put the door on the lobby side, or guests drop as you grow

This is the one I got wrong while building it. At first I put the door in the middle of the front face of the building, but after widening the building to stage 6 the door ended up about 50 tiles from the baths. Guests spent longer walking to the baths, and the wider the building got, the fewer guests came per day.

So I fixed the door position to the lobby side of the front face. Even as the building grows forward, the door follows the lobby line, so the walk from the entrance to the counter and lockers does not get longer. When you place things yourself, the safe order is lockers and the shoe rack nearest the entrance, with the baths and kiln sauna further inside.

After placing, tune it with the heat map

When you finish placing, turn on the heat map button on screen. It shows satisfaction, money and crowding as tile colors. Look for the tiles where money is not piling up and where the line bunches in one spot, then move things one tile at a time.

It is faster to move a sikhye fixture one tile at a time next to a single kiln sauna and watch the numbers change than to memorize the table. Many fixtures return half their price when sold, so trying a move costs little.

FAQ

What should I buy first in Korean Spa Tycoon?

The kiln sauna. It opens at stage 2 and costs 6,000 won. Sikhye, snacks, the sleep room and the diner get 1.08 to 1.2x next to a kiln sauna, so the rest of the layout only makes sense once you have one.

How many tiles does the placement bonus reach?

Mostly within 2 tiles. Penalty rules like the sleep room's are judged within one tile, meaning a single wall between them. The preview before you place shows the bonus or penalty first.

Where should I put the sleep room?

Next to a kiln sauna is best (1.2x). A salt room gives 1.15x and sikhye gives 1.08x. An arcade or kids zone within one tile cuts it to 0.8x, so keep them apart.

How many air conditioners can I place?

It depends on the stage: 1 at stages 1 to 3, 2 at stages 4 to 5, and up to 3 from stage 6. The radius widens from 3 tiles to 5 through upgrades.
