Offline Tycoon Games for Phones: Picked by What the Store Page Says

We sorted them into three groups

On November 8, 2026 we opened the US App Store and Google Play pages of tycoon and management games and looked for any sentence about offline play. Prices, ratings and rating counts are the numbers shown on the US App Store page that day.

If a description says nothing, that does not mean the game fails without internet. The store just made no promise, so you have to try it yourself.

• Says offline: the description says it works without internet or Wi-Fi
• Needs internet: the description says you need a connection
• Says nothing: the description never mentions offline play

Games whose store page says offline

The clearest one is Game Dev Tycoon. Its description says no internet connection is required and even mentions Airplane Mode. It has the highest rating on this list, and it is a paid game, so you pay once.

Idle Miner Tycoon says it works even offline, but the same description also introduces leagues, where you compete with other players. The description alone does not tell us whether that part works without internet. Office Life: Idle Tycoon is free with ads and in-app purchases, and many reviews complain that there is only one map and the second is still coming.

Games that need internet, or say nothing

AdVenture Capitalist Tycoon and Pocket Academy ZERO clearly say in their descriptions that you need an internet connection. Leave them off your flight list.

The other six have high ratings and lots of reviews, but their descriptions say nothing about offline play. Egg, Inc. mentions online features such as Contracts and leaderboards. Game Dev Story and Pocket Academy 3 are paid games and still have no offline note. For these six, switch on airplane mode and try them yourself.

The word offline in a description can mean two things

In idle games, offline often means your money keeps piling up while the game is closed. The line "keeps generating revenue even when you're offline" in the My Shopping Mall description is one of those. It means the shop earns while the app is closed, not that you can play without internet.

So do not pick a game from the single word offline. Look for internet, Wi-Fi or Airplane Mode in the sentences around it. The four games marked as saying offline in the table above all have one of those words next to it.

We blocked outside connections and launched our own PC Cafe Tycoon

On November 8, 2026 we loaded PC Cafe Tycoon (PC방 키우기), made by Dumb Game Lab, in a headless browser and blocked every request to an outside address. It started without errors and reached the title screen.

Only one request tried to go outside while it loaded: the list of our other games. The game started fine with that one blocked.

Korean Spa Tycoon gave the same result

We loaded Korean Spa Tycoon (찜질방 키우기) the same way and it started without errors. Again the only request that tried to leave was the list of our other games.

There are limits. We did not test on a real phone in airplane mode, only in a browser with outside requests blocked. We also did not play for long or tap through every screen.

How to check before you board

If the store text is missing or vague, test the game at home first. That beats opening it for the first time on the plane and staring at a loading screen.

• Open the game once on Wi-Fi and get past the first screen and the tutorial. Some games download data on first launch.
• Close the game completely, then turn on airplane mode. Check that Wi-Fi is off too.
• Open the game again and play for about 10 minutes as usual. If you can enter the shop, money piles up and your progress saves, it will work on the plane.
